Our mission is to simplify the transfer process and provide clear, transparent information to students. We understand that transferring can be a complex and stressful process, and our goal is to alleviate some of that stress by providing you with the information you need to make informed decisions about your education.
The Miami Academic Transfer Evaluation System (MATES) is the University of Miami's comprehensive tool for simplifying the transfer process and ensuring that students can seamlessly transition their credits to our institution. MATES is designed to assist both prospective and current students in understanding how their existing coursework aligns with our programs, ultimately empowering them to make informed decisions about their academic journey.
MATES operates through a user-friendly online system, accessible through a dedicated portal on the University of Miami's website. Simply enter your current or planned coursework, and MATES will generate an instant evaluation showing you which credits will transfer and their equivalent at the University of Miami. Once you are ready to transfer the credits, current students will submit the Boomi form. If a class appears in the MATES database, upon submitting the form, the student will have the credits added to their record. However, if a class is not in the database, it will go through faculty evaluation to determine its equivalency. This process ensures that all courses are evaluated accurately, providing students with a seamless transfer experience.
If you're considering transferring to the University of Miami, MATES is your key to unlocking a smooth transition. By inputting your current or planned coursework into MATES, you can instantly see how your credits will transfer to our institution. This transparency allows you to plan your academic path with confidence, knowing which credits will count towards your degree at the University of Miami.
If you're already enrolled at the University of Miami, MATES remains a valuable resource. If you're considering taking courses at another regionally accredited institution, MATES can help you determine if those courses will transfer back to the University of Miami. This ensures that you stay on track with your degree plan and avoid any surprises when it comes to credit transfers. All current students will be required to submit a Boomi form. This form is mandatory for all courses, regardless of whether they are listed in the MATES database. If a course is already listed in MATES, it will not be re-evaluated, and the credits will be added to your record upon form submission. However, if the course is not in the database, it will undergo faculty evaluation to determine its equivalency. This meticulous process ensures that every course is thoroughly evaluated, maintaining the integrity of the transfer process.
